The demolition of an abandoned building in Tyrone Township will clear the way for the development of a public park, green space, and the proposed new Kent City Library. Constructed in 1955, the building has been vacant for more than eight years, and its removal marks the first step in revitalizing the area for the entire community's benefit.

"Tyrone Township is committed to creating vibrant public spaces that enhance community life," said Dave Ignasiak, Tyrone Township Supervisor. "This demolition marks a crucial step toward transforming the area that will serve the needs and aspirations of future generations."

The demolition and revitalization of the area were supported by $300,000 in funding from Kent County's Community Development Block Grant Program, along with matching funds provided by Tyrone Township.

Tyrone Township partnered with Pitsch Demolition Company to carry out the demolition.

"We are excited to support this project to help our northern residents, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities this project will bring to the Kent City community," said Gustavo Perez, Director, Kent County Community Action . "Our Community Development Block Grant program is an invaluable resource, helping residents and local governments transform spaces for future generations."
