The Literacy Center of West Michigan has hired Cara Glass as its first Director of Community Literacy Programs. In this new role, Glass will provide support to the increasing number of adult learners in the Literacy Center of West Michigan’s community and citizenship programs.

Glass has nearly 15 years of experience in education, leadership, and program development, with advanced training in early childhood education, English as a Second Language, and project management. She has a strong background in designing inclusive curricula, fostering equity-driven practices, and advocating for multilingual communities.

“Cara’s breadth of training and experience aligns beautifully with our mission. What a fantastic addition to our team,” said Wendy Falb, executive director, Literacy Center of West Michigan.

Founded in 1986 by educators and librarians, the Literacy of West Michigan has evolved into the largest community-based organization in the state and one of the largest in the country dedicated solely to adult literacy and learning. The nonprofit serves nearly 1,300 adults annually.

"I am excited to join the Literacy Center of West Michigan and contribute to the growth of our community literacy programs,” said Glass. “This role allows me to advocate for multilingual communities and design inclusive curricula that address the diverse needs of our learners."
