The Diatribe has appointed Wardell Frazier Jr. as its new Executive Director. A Grand Rapids native with nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, Frazier Jr. has focused his career on community. The Diatribe uses restorative art to disrupt historical systems of oppression by reimagining education, holistically honoring the community, and creating an unapologetic vision for liberation that is accessible to all.

Frazier Jr.'s journey in the nonprofit sector began in 2006 with the City of Grand Rapids LOOP after-school and summer programs, where he led and managed various sites until 2013. Throughout his career, he has taken on key roles in housing, workforce development, and public transit initiatives. Most recently, he served as Community Relations and External Government Affairs Specialist for The Rapid, where he built partnerships and worked to improve access to public transportation. His work at The Rapid emphasized eliminating barriers and fostering community connections.

In addition to his work in Grand Rapids, Frazier Jr. spent three years in Naples, Florida, overseeing youth development programs. He credits this experience with enhancing his understanding of fundraising, partnership-building, and serving underserved communities.

Frazier Jr.'s contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including Crain's Grand Rapids Business 40 Under 40, South Kent Chamber's Fabulous 15 Under 40, and recognition as a notable Black leader by the Michigan Sustainable Business Forum.

His volunteer work spans several boards and committees, including the Black Legacy Fund with the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, the Community Relations Commission with the City of Grand Rapids, and the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum. He also serves as Board Chair for the Diversity Business Council with the South Kent Chamber of Commerce.
