The Corewell Health™ Center for Wellness – Boston Square is now serving patients, expanding access to health care, education and community resources in Boston Square. Located at 1534 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Suite 1, the center supports Corewell Health’s efforts to improve health, prevent chronic diseases and reduce health disparities in West Michigan.

The center, created with input from Amplify GR and the local community, offers comprehensive care tailored to the unique needs of area residents.

“The voices of Amplify GR and the neighborhood guided our decisions,” said Malissa Becksvoort, Director, Primary Health, Corewell Health. “Their input shaped the center into a space that truly reflects the needs of the Boston Square community.”

According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, residents in 49507, which includes the Boston Square, have a lower life expectancy of 9.3 years compared to residents in 49506.

Services extend beyond traditional primary care to include women’s health, lifestyle medicine, workforce development, financial counseling, health insurance literacy support and virtual care. Many on-site community health classes will be offered free of charge, designed to support individuals with chronic condition management, healthy cooking, pregnancy, breastfeeding and parenting.

Quiana Scott-Ruffin, a lifelong resident of the 49507 community, has witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by many residents and is excited to make a difference as the center’s family nurse practitioner.

“My family, my friends, my neighbors, this community – they all deserve access to exceptional care, and this investment is the first step to finally making that a reality,” said Scott-Ruffin. “The building, the services and our team were created to help provide compassionate care for all ages in Boston Square.”
