Health care scholarships open to area students

Holland Hospital invites aspiring health care professionals to apply for its annual scholarship programs. These valuable opportunities support high school and college students pursuing health care careers in Allegan, Douglas, Fennville, Grand Haven, Grandville, Hamilton, Holland, Hudsonville, Jenison, Pullman, Saugatuck, South Haven, West Olive, and Zeeland.

Established 17 years ago, the Holland Hospital Volunteer Council Health Care Scholarship has awarded over $170,000 to deserving students. The scholarship, which is funded through proceeds at the organization's Gift Shop, Coffee Cove, and various fundraisers, provides financial assistance to local students every year.

"Holland Hospital is committed to nurturing the next generation of health care leaders," said Megan Kniaz, Lead Volunteer Coordinator, Holland Hospital. "These scholarships represent our investment in the future health of our communities, and we are eager to see the positive impact these talented students will have."

Eligible applicants for the Volunteer Council Scholarship must be enrolled in an accredited health care program, such as nursing, medical school, social work, or allied health fields.

In addition, the Holland Hospital RN Scholarship Program supports high school seniors pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This program has awarded over $200,000 to aspiring nurses over the past two decades.

"We are incredibly proud to support the educational journeys of these dedicated students," shared Erin LaDuke, RN Nurse Recruiter, Holland Hospital. "These scholarships provide crucial financial support and empower aspiring nurses to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others."

Each year, the RN Scholarship Program awards $7,000 to selected recipients, distributed over four years to assist with tuition, fees, and living expenses. High school seniors residing within the Holland Hospital area who plan to enroll in a BSN program in the fall of 2025 are encouraged to apply.
