West Michigan nonprofit The Chosen Ones is partnering with Kentwood Public Schools and The Village99 to host The Chosen Mentality Conference on Tuesday, July 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first-ever conference will take place at East Kentwood High School, 6230 Kalamazoo Ave SE. The conference will provide incoming East Kentwood freshman student athletes with a safe space to learn about mental health and to give them the tools to navigate their journeys as valued individuals.

Student athletes will participate in multiple interactive breakout sessions led by mental health professionals, coaches, and former athletes. Session topics will include anxiety, mental toughness and grit, sports medicine and injury, nutrition, and adverse childhood experiences. Food will be provided.

“I am a resident of Kentwood and so it was only natural to reach out to the school about this conference,” said Wes Trammell, Program Director, The Chosen Ones. “The Chosen Mentality Conference will equip student athletes at EKHS to successfully handle adversity, and, more importantly, not to do it alone. We aim to see student athletes thrive in their communities as healthy individuals.”

Workshop leaders include Daimond Dixon, Owner of Alpha Human Performance; Wylea Griggs, Founder of Quantum Mental Health Wellness; Kyle Hein, President of Heroes Haven; plus East Kentwood’s nutrition teacher and strength and conditioning coach.

There is no cost for student athletes to attend The Chosen Mentality Conference.  For more information or to register, visit https://thechosenonesgr.com/ekhs.
