After three generations and 85 years in the trucking business, the Van Wyk family and owners of TransWay, Inc., have decided to retire. Located at 931 Interchange Dr. in Holland, TransWay, Inc. transported general freight, food, furniture, metal sheets, coils, paper rolls, logs, poles, beams, and lumber throughout the Midwest and Sunbelt states.

Former president of TransWay, Inc. Thomas Van Wyk received his first W-2 from the family business in 1969.

"Although we have enjoyed the business, what we value and will miss most is the employees who we interacted with on a day-to-day basis," said Van Wyk.

Van Wyk and his business partners are helping employees transition to new companies within the industry.

TransWay, Inc. has hired Orbitbid.com, a Miedema Asset Management Group company, to conduct a complete liquidation of its assets in a two-day online auction. Over 140 trailers and 55 semi-trucks will be available to purchase.

Bidding for the trailers will be open from 8 a.m. on Monday, August 5, to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6. Bidding for the trucks will be open from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7.

"We congratulate Thomas on his well-deserved retirement. This marks a significant milestone for him and presents a fantastic opportunity for truck drivers and businesses to purchase some of the most well-maintained equipment in West Michigan," said Reid Stroven, Vice President of Sales, Miedema Asset Management Group. "We are excited to see how this new chapter will support and drive growth within our community."
