Zeeland Board of Public Works (BPW) is celebrating Drinking Water Week by inviting local families to participate in educational activities. From May 4-11, families can visit the Howard Miller Public Library to collect goodie bags filled with water-themed crafts, designed to educate children about the importance of water conservation.

“Water is not just a resource; it's a lifeline, a connector, and a fundamental human right,” said Mike Levandoski, Water Operations Manager, Zeeland Board of Public Works. “Through our involvement in Water Week, we are poised to amplify our voices, foster meaningful partnerships, and champion initiatives that ensure equitable access to clean water and sanitation for all, driving positive change in communities worldwide.”

In conjunction with Drinking Water Week, the Zeeland BPW hosted an essay writing contest for students in grades 4-12 to explore the theme, "Why is safe drinking water important to our community?" Winning essays will be featured on the Zeeland BPW website.

Led by the American Water Works Association, Drinking Water Week has been an annual tradition for over 40 years, promoting public awareness about the importance and availability of safe drinking water.
