The new owners of Grand Rapids' historic Harris Building will host a community open house on Thursday, February 1, at 5 p.m. Bluefin Ventures LLC acquired the property in early December, signaling a new chapter for a 132-year-old landmark at 111 S. Division Ave.

"We decided to throw this Winter Welcome party to welcome our friends, family and business connections to our newest project," said Chris Ake, Harris Building co-owner. "We will be giving a tour of the building's first two floors and sharing our vision of what we see happening here. Also, we will have some great food and drinks, and who doesn't love that? It will be a great time and we are excited to welcome everyone to the Heartside of Grand Rapids."

The event will feature food provided by Distinctive Catering and a live musical performance by award-winning singer and songwriter Cecy Santana.

Santana recently performed at the International Tyrrhenian Jazz Festival in Calabria, Italy with Ray Browne Jr., the son of Ella Fitzgerald. She has also performed with Galactic band and has opened for Fantasia Barrino, Carl Thomas, Roy Ayers, Musiq Soulchild, Lil’ Wayne and worked with Hugo Ferreira from Tantric Rock band.

Building owners are exploring opportunities to attract restaurants, bars, or retail outlets, enhancing the Heartside neighborhood's appeal and vibrancy.
