Matthew Richardson has been appointed the new CEO of Grand Rapids-headquartered healthcare staffing company DecentraCare. Richardson replaces DecentraCare Founder Nathan Baar in the position. He brings a background in clinical operations, surgical services, and business development to his new role.

"I'm eager to leverage my combined experience in clinical operations and business development to further our mission of healthcare and technology innovation, aiming to build a better future for healthcare staffing," said Richardson. "DecentraCare's commitment to clinician autonomy and creating an independent healthcare ecosystem aligns perfectly with my vision. It's an exciting time to lead such a dynamic organization as we introduce creative staffing solutions that address the pressing challenges of clinician burnout and staffing shortages, ultimately serving our communities more effectively."

DecentraCare provides as-needed, gig-style healthcare staffing solutions for organizations, including outpatient healthcare facilities, home health agencies, and laboratories. Their staffing model provides on-call and temporary support, maximizing value while minimizing wasted spending and excess fees.

According to DecentraCare, overtime costs and increases in agency fees have driven an estimated $24 billion in excess spending by healthcare organizations.

"There's a new age of healthcare staffing emerging where gig-style, flexible work will be embraced, allowing for more creative staffing strategies to be deployed by organizations. Now is the time to change what has normally been a 'set it and forget it' staffing strategy," said Baar. "Bringing on a new CEO that has both healthcare experience as well as a creative vision in this space was crucial for us as we continue to grow and develop our services."
