Panel event to offer insights into hiring international tech talent

West Michigan Tech Talent will host a panel discussion on Wednesday, February 21, to demystify the hiring process of international students in the technology sector. "Demystifying the Visa Process: A Guide to Hiring International Students" is scheduled from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Daniel and Pamella DeVos Center for Interprofessional Health at 333 Michigan St NE. Attendance is free.

The panel discussion will offer business owners, hiring managers, and recruiters essential insights and tools to attract and retain top international tech talent. Local experts will cover the fundamentals of hiring international students as interns or employees and strategies to integrate these skilled individuals into local businesses effectively.

The event will feature a diverse group of speakers and panelists, including Rachel Salinas, assistant dean at the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, who will serve as the host. Moderators for the panel are Arya Jadhav, a biostatistician intern and data science analyst currently a graduate student at GVSU, and Bill Osborn, director of technical recruiting at Bravo LT.

Panelists include Susan Im, founder and immigration attorney at ImLaw; Stella Michael, director of digital services at Corewell Health; Dr. Theodore Jones, senior director of talent initiatives at Global Detroit; Anthony Chang, founder of BAMF Health; and a staff member from the Padnos International Center at GVSU.

West Michigan Tech Talent is a West Michigan Works! industry council that brings together employers, community partners, educators, and economic developers to address talent issues.
