University appoints Director of Athletics and Corporate Partnerships
Calvin University has hired Bob Sack as its Director of Athletics and Corporate Partnerships. The new position is part of Calvin's ongoing dedication to enhancing its intercollegiate athletic programs and comes in anticipation of the university's inaugural football season.
Sack will be instrumental in developing corporate sponsorships for Calvin's athletic programs. He will also coordinate broadcast and media opportunities and identify other revenue-generating avenues. Additionally, he will be a play-by-play announcer for all Calvin football broadcasts and select basketball games.
"Bob's extensive sports management experience and passion for higher education make him an ideal fit for this role. We are excited about his expertise in our athletic programs and the fresh perspectives he will offer as we launch our inaugural football season and build upon our existing successes,” said Ken Erffmeyer, Vice President for Advancement. “Bob's leadership will be crucial as we continue to enhance our athletic offerings and community engagement."
Sack brings decades of experience in sports management, marketing, and Christian higher education. He previously served as Executive Director of the PGA Champions Tour stop and had a senior leadership role at DP Fox Sports and the Grand Rapids Griffins. For the past 15 years, Sack has served as the Vice President for University Advancement at Cornerstone University.
"It is an absolute privilege to join Calvin University in this new role," said Sack. "The university's steadfast commitment to excellence in academics and athletics, combined with its mission to prepare students to live and serve in God's world as agents of renewal, is truly inspiring. I am eager to contribute to the athletic department's vision and support its continued growth."
Sack will call the first-ever Calvin football game on September 7, when the Knights host Oberlin College. Veteran Grand Rapids sportscaster Jason Hutton will join Sack to provide color analysis on Michigan Sports Radio and calvinknights.com.
