Tryout open to West Michigan youth hockey players

The Meijer State Games of Michigan will host statewide hockey tryouts. District 6 tryouts will be on May 20 at Southside Ice Arena, 556 100th St. SW in Byron Center. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with specific times assigned to each age division. All divisions, 18 under, 15 under, 13 under, 11 under, Girls 10-12 Grade, and Girls 7-9 Grade, are invited to participate. The fee to try out is $50.

In this unique tournament format, Michigan is split into seven districts where players try out for their respective ones. Following tryouts, teams are assembled, have one practice, and play in the tournament in June. It provides a different experience for hockey players looking for more ice time in the summer while honing their talents and testing their teamwork and adaptability skills.

The Meijer State Games of Michigan hockey tournament will occur from June 19 through June 22 in the greater Grand Rapids area.
