Kent County Community Action (KCCA) invites the community to participate in its 36th annual Walk for Warmth event this Saturday, February 10. The event will take place at the KCCA office located at 121 Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Suite 110, Grand Rapids. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Kent County families who have received a utility shut-off notice for gas, electric, and deliverable fuels like propane.

The Walk for Warmth begins with registration and opening remarks at 9 a.m., followed by the walk starting at 9:30 a.m. Participants will embark on a short route around the KCCA block, moving from the entrance on Martin Luther King Jr. Street to Sheldon Avenue, Sycamore Street, and then to Jefferson Avenue.

According to KCCA, heating and fuel expenditures per household are expected to increase due to higher fuel prices and colder temperatures, with an average 14-17 percent increase over last year, equating to $106 to $253 per household.

KCCA encourages everyone to get involved by walking, sponsoring a walker, or making a donation. For more information, visit http://accesskent.com/walkforwarmth.
