Skot Welch, the author of "Unfractured: A Christ-Centered Action Plan for Cultural Change," will host a book signing event on March 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Baker Book House, 2768 E Paris Ave SE in Grand Rapids. "Unfractured," published by Baker/Chosen Publishing in November 2023, offers a new approach and language for a different conversation about race and ethnicity.

"We have problems," said Welch. "Strained racial and ethnic relations, deceptions of various sorts of 'privilege,' low esteem, and the like have driven a wedge between segments of the church - between the 'black church' and the 'white church' specifically - that has effectively separated us for so long that decidedly different languages have developed."

In "Unfractured," Welch challenges readers to rethink how they talk about race and ethnicity by celebrating their identity and diversity, embracing a new kingdom language, exploring new perspectives, building united and diverse communities, and using a metric-based change model.

"We cannot work together as a body until we are able to communicate effectively," said Welch. "So, here's a new language for a new church era."

Welch is the founder of Global Bridgebuilders, an international diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting firm. Working with organizations ranging from churches to Fortune 500 companies, Welch helps enterprises by capturing the advantages present in every diverse workforce. The former VP of DiversityInc magazine, Skot is the author of several books, founder of the Mosaic Film Experience, and former co-host of Radio in Black and White show.
