Kids’ Food Basket (KFB) will celebrate local chefs at its 22nd annual Feast for Kids. During the event, the American Culinary Federation of Greater Grand Rapids (ACF) 2023 Chefs of the Year will donate their time and talents to prepare a four-course meal that celebrates the flavors of Grand Rapids. Feast for Kids will take place on Tuesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at Noto’s at 6600 28th St. SE.

This year’s featured chefs include:

  • Chef Phong Nguyen, Owner and Executive Chef of Monsoon and Owner of Kpocha Korean Street Food (ACF Chef of the Year)

  • Chef Ed Werner, Gordon Food Service Culinary Specialist (ACF Chef Professional of the Year)

  • Chef Michael Dewicki, Kent Career Tech Center Instructor (ACF Chef Educator of the Year)

  • Dylan VanderMeer, Junior at Comstock Park High School and student at Kent Career Tech Center (ACF Junior Culinarian of the Year)

  • Chef Bernadette Amador, Cascade Hills Country Club (ACF Pastry Chef of the Year)

“We are grateful for 22 years of support from the ACF, who join us in the belief that good food is powerful,” said Tamara VanderArk-Potter, Vice President of Philanthropy, Kids’ Food Basket. “This event is not only an amazing culinary experience; it also translates into real nutrition access for West Michigan kids.”

In addition to the four-course meal, Feast for Kids will feature a silent auction and fund-a-need program, plus an open bar and entertainment. All event proceeds will benefit KFB’s work to increase access to healthy food and nutrition education for West Michigan kids.

KFB is a community-based food equity nonprofit serving under-resourced children in Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, and Allegan counties who are impacted by poverty and food insecurity. The nonprofit’s services include its flagship Sack Supper program, sustainable farming, community food distribution, and educational programming. KFB serves about 10,000 weekday evening meals to 60 schools.

DTE Foundation will serve as the presenting sponsor of Feast for Kids for the eighth consecutive year.
