Baskets for Kids campaign tips off
Kids' Food Basket (KFB), LMCU, and iHeart Media are teaming up to impact the community with Baskets for Kids. The campaign will celebrate the community's athletic achievements during the high school girls' and boys' basketball season for its third year.
Baskets for Kids is hosted by 96.1 The Game and features the High School Basketball Game of the Week. For each 3-point basket made during the featured boys' and girls' games, LMCU will provide a $50 donation to KFB. Last year's campaign raised $6,200 to nourish West Michigan children to reach their full potential.
"LMCU is excited to collaborate with longtime partners 96.1 The Game and Kids' Food Basket," said Matt Cook, Vice President of Community Relations, LMCU. "In anticipation of Baskets for Kids' third year, we extend an invitation to the community to join us in supporting high school athletics and the critical work of Kids' Food Basket in providing consistent access to nutritious meals."
This year's Baskets for Kids continues the momentum of the third-annual Touchdowns for Kids partnership, in which LMCU gifted $6,400 to KFB during the high school football season.
At KFB, each $50 donation can turn into healthy meals for an entire classroom for a school day. KFB currently serves 10,000 healthy evening meals each weekday to children in Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa, and Allegan counties.
"Each three-point shot translates to heathy food access and nutrition education for West Michigan kids," said Tamara VanderArk-Potter, Vice President of Philanthropy, Kids' Food Basket. "We look forward to a season of cheering on both boys' and girls' teams as their triumphs make a continued impact through this inspiring partnership."
