Distillery brings back popular spirit for the holidays

Eastern Kille is bringing back the popular Steenstra's Old Fashioned this holiday season. Last fall, the ready-to-drink spirit was introduced in a limited release, which sold out in every West Michigan store that carried it.

In response to that demand, the distillery is bringing Steenstra's Old Fashioned back for the 2024 holiday season. While doubling production, Eastern Kille is also expanding their reach into major retailers across the state, where you will often find the cocktail next to Steenstra's Windmill Cookies.

Last fall, Steenstra's transitioned ownership to Eastern Kille, co-owner Brandon Voorhees. Voorhees is the grandson of Harold & Joanne Voorhees, who operated Steenstra's for the past 30 years. Their cookie, the Windmill Cookie inspired the Steenstra's Old Fashioned.

"The demand for the Steenstra's Old Fashioned last year exceeded our expectations," said Brandon Voorhees. "This cocktail represents my two worlds colliding with the iconic cookie that has been in my family for decades and the award-winning distillery we've created at Eastern Kille. I'm so pleased that people love it."

The cocktail is described as "harmoniously blended aged bourbon, a touch of sweetness and the warmth of subtle baking spices found in the beloved cookie". It is recommended to pour over ice and enjoy.

The Steenstra's Old Fashioned is the second ready-to-drink cocktail offered by Eastern Kille along with their Espresso Martini. Eastern Kille spirits are available at Meijer Stores, most major grocery chains and spirit shops. Steenstra's Old Fashioned ready-to-drink cocktail is in stores now.
