Gymnastics center closes; auction offers equipment for local organizations

After 44 years of serving the community, Gymco has closed. Located at 2306 Camelot Ridge Ct. SE, Gymco has been long known to the public for offering gymnastics programs and movement-based learning in West Michigan.

“After much thought and consideration, Gymco will be closing its doors for the last time at the end of the summer session 2024. In the wake of the pandemic, much effort was made to make a full recovery. However, due to many factors including rising labor and utility costs and the ever-changing employment landscape, it has been evident that the trajectory of our recovery will not meet our need for sustainability,” said a Gymco spokesperson.

All Gymco assets and equipment will be sold in a one-time online auction. The auction, hosted by Orbitbid.com, is an opportunity for gyms, schools, and individuals seeking quality gymnastics equipment.

The online auction will begin on Monday, September 30, and close on Tuesday, October 1, with items starting to close at 6 p.m.

The available equipment includes a variety of gymnastics and classroom items. For gymnastics, the auction will feature a 40x40 newer spring floor with bonded foam, preschool gymnastics equipment, an uneven bar set, a 5-in-1 gymnastics bar, a single low bar with a rock wall, and various mats such as landing mats and pit pillows. Additional items include a competition crank beam, block sets like half donuts and sectional blocks, a tumble track, and roller mats. For classroom equipment, the auction offers conference tables, chairs, preschool tables, games, toys, and more.
