Mel Trotter Ministries, the largest provider of services to people experiencing homelessness in West Michigan, has hired Pam Liggett as its new Director of Development. Liggett previously served as the Assistant Director of Development.

Prior to joining Mel Trotter, Liggett held leadership positions with several nonprofit organizations including Autism Support of Kent County, the Jenison Public Education Foundation, and the American Heart Association.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent Mel Trotter Ministries in this new capacity,” said Liggett. “As a human services organization, we work with individual and institutional donors to deliver life-changing support to thousands of men, women and children each year. It’s very rewarding to me to serve as a connector that helps to bring hope and compassion to our neighbors in need.”

Mel Trotter Ministries is a faith-based organization founded by its namesake in 1900. The organization exists to demonstrate the compassion of Jesus Christ toward anyone experiencing hunger and homelessness though shelter services, prevention and diversion programs, housing and job programs and our Outreach team. Last year, Mel Trotter served 5,531 people, an 11 percent increase over 2022 and that number is tracking even higher this year as more people are affected by homelessness due to various factors including the lack of affordable housing, the frequency of mental illness, substance abuse addiction or the loss of a job.

"Pam has proven to be a tremendous asset to Mel Trotter during her time with our organization,” said Gordon Oosting, Interim CEO, Mel Trotter. “She is a dedicated and caring person who embodies all the characteristics of our organization. I’m confident she will build strong bridges with our donor community and our stakeholders to ensure continued support for those individuals and families needing assistance in our community.”
