Volunteers needed to deliver emergency meals ahead of winter
Meals on Wheels Western Michigan (MOWWM) needs volunteers to deliver essential food supplies to seniors in Kent and Allegan counties ahead of the winter weather. On Saturday, October 19, MOWWM staff and volunteers will be loading up and delivering emergency meal boxes consisting of shelf-stable food items to seniors across West Michigan. MOWWM encourages those who are motivated by helping others to sign up for a route.
"Winter storms have the potential to disrupt deliveries, but no senior should be without access to the nutrition they depend on," said Lisa Wideman, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels Western Michigan. "Thanks to the support of our amazing volunteers, we are able to provide shelf-stable emergency meals, ensuring that seniors continue to receive the nutrition they need, no matter the weather conditions."
MOWWM's commitment to the safety and well-being of its clients remains a top priority, especially during the winter months when unpredictable weather can create barriers to food access. The emergency meals provide seniors in need with nutrition in the event that inclement weather interrupts their regular meal delivery.
