Dental provider closes locations

My Community Dental Centers (MCDC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality dental care to underserved communities across Michigan, has permanently closed its dental centers in Grand Haven and Ionia. The decision follows a comprehensive financial and operational sustainability evaluation as the organization faces rising care costs, workforce challenges, and growing demands for higher wages within the dental industry. MCDC centers in Monroe, Roscommon, Spalding, and St. Johns have also been closed.

The Ionia office was temporarily closed due to provider shortages. The final day of patient care at the Grand Haven location is expected on January 23, 2025. Closing these centers is part of MCDC’s broader strategy to stabilize operations, reduce debt, and focus resources on strengthening its remaining 28 centers.

By strengthening our foundation, we aim to remain a trusted provider of dental care in the Michigan communities we serve.”

MCDC is working closely with patients to transition their care to nearby dental partners, ensuring continuity of services. The organization is also committed to supporting its staff during this transition, offering opportunities to relocate to other centers and providing resources for those seeking alternative positions.
