Early childhood nonprofit welcomes new board members

First Steps Kent, a nonprofit working with parents, service providers, funders, advocates, and other stakeholders to build a comprehensive early childhood system in Kent County, announced the addition of five new board members.

New board members include Leah Atkins, Parent Leader; Guillermo Cisneros, President & CEO of the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Kevin Clay, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board at Pridgeon and Clay; Flora Ma, Parent Leader; and Krashawn Martin, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Wyoming.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome our new board members," said Jennifer Headley-Nordman, President of First Steps Kent. "These individuals bring diverse talents and backgrounds that will contribute to our mission of ensuring all children in Kent County have the opportunity to start life healthy, ready to succeed in school, and able to achieve their full potential."

As First Steps Kent prepares for the 2024 Ready by Five millage renewal, the organization is committed to strengthening the voice of parents and equipping them to advocate for their needs. The nonprofit is focused on designing a more equitable early childhood system and ensuring the success of Kent County's youngest residents.
