A nonprofit that helps underrepresented contractors thrive in the construction industry will host an event that helps create meaningful partnerships between buyers and underrepresented construction companies.

The improvements focus on five major areas: modernized training facilities, improved ADA accessibility, an upgraded veterinary clinic, a new Canine Village, and renovated breeding and foster puppy spaces.

Located at 12240 Fillmore St. in West Olive, the new Family Justice Center will begin services and hearings on July 23.

The six-week summer program runs from June 24 to August 6 and provides enriching career readiness opportunities for youth ages 14 to 24 across Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa counties.

The scholarship is designed to ease some of the costs associated with getting a job in the trades, such as tools and clothing.

The annual event provides a dynamic platform for students to engage with industry professionals and participate in interactive experiences across a variety of five high-demand sectors.

This project is part of the regional Grand River Greenway initiative, which includes a planned route along the Grand River from the Lake Michigan shoreline in Grand Haven to Lowell in Kent County.

According to the report, nearly half of the top high-demand jobs are new additions for 2024.

Home Repair Services of Kent County, a nonprofit that supports vulnerable Kent County homeowners, is honoring Allyson Terpsma with its Abe DeVries Volunteer Award.
