The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission is inviting residents to a public presentation of its preliminary mission, vision, values, and goals on Thursday, June 13, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Fillmore Complex Board Room, 12220 Fillmore St. West Olive. This event is an opportunity to learn about the process and development of the commission’s mission, vision, values, and initiatives for the upcoming years. The presentation will also be streamed on YouTube

“The current strategic mission, goals, and objectives for the parks commission have helped guide us to successfully establish a parks system that is beloved by residents and visitors,” said Kelly Rice, President, Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission. “Now we are excited to review our strategic direction and continue into the next phase of organizational growth.”

The draft strategic plan presentation is now available for review online at miottawa.org/strategicplan. The commission encourages public feedback. Residents can submit feedback in person during the June 13 meeting or by completing this survey. The deadline for submitting comments is June 20.

The commission is conducting this process to understand the community’s perception, satisfaction better, and needs for the overall parks system. More than 6,000 residents provided input through three surveys and six visioning engagement sessions.
